Opportunities to join CHCLC as staff or as a volunteer are available at various times throughout the year, dependent on need.
CHCLC is looking for a vibrant, enthusiastic Principal Lawyer to lead and mentor.
The Principal Lawyer position supervises the lawyers of the practice and supports legal staff, volunteer solicitors and law students. The Principal Lawyer will work to develop projects and partnerships with other community stakeholders, as well as, providing information, advice and casework to clients from local communities.
The ideal candidate will have broad legal knowledge and demonstrated experience leading, developing and mentoring a team of lawyers providing professional and legal supervision ensuring that information, advice and casework services are appropriate, efficient and effective.
You will be required to ensure that legal services operate within the Centre’s guidelines and in accordance with professional legal practice, including government and professional indemnity insurance requirements.
Applicants are required to hold a current, unrestricted Victorian Practising Certificate and be admitted to practice in the Federal Jurisdiction. Minimum 5 years’ experience required. A remuneration salary package will be negotiated based on qualifications, skills and experience with the option to salary sacrifice.

Volunteers are integral to the establishment and maintenance of a service delivery model, which is fundamentally different to the services available elsewhere in the private legal system.
Volunteer Solicitors are required for Wednesday evening and Friday afternoon sessions. Volunteer Solicitors must have a current practising certificate.
